I'd like to compile a book, and later publish it, which would contain interviews with troubled youths who are currently, or have, served time in young offender's institutions for committing a crime - I feel like this might bridge the gap between young people and give adults a taste of what life is like for some teenagers in Britain. Action: "Broken" - Interviews with Troubled Youths
I need help arranging a way to get published and also practical issues such as how to go about actually interviewing the young offenders, would it be face to face, in writing or over the phone? How would I get the book published?
I'd also need help raising awareness about the project/book within the institutions in order to convince young offenders to contribute some of their own work, would there be legal issues? This would involve designing posters/leaflets to provide to the institutions?
I would also like suggestions as to which charities to donate the proceeds to, should the book be successful.
I will need help designing and compiling the book also.

Once you have compiled a good number of stories start researching publishers or self- publishing, decide which route you will take and either look further in to self publishing or begin contacting publishers (look at all the publisher names in library/bookstore and write them down to look them up online, also search for smaller publishers online.
I am not sure about your legal issues question, maybe look online or phone your local council? You could donate proceeds to the princes trust - this may encorage young people working with them to contribute their stories. Finding ex young offenders (via princes trust or other organisations) may be a good way to do this as you may find current young offenders are unwilling to participate however I may be wrong so try both paths.
