What it's all about

We are holding a sponsored bungee jump on campus at Bath University with the aim of raising as much money for charity as possible.

Ideally there will be at least 40 sponsored participants, each raising a minimum of £40 for charity. 20 of these participants are from Bath University and we are waiting for confirmation of numbers from Bristol University and various national charities operating within the South-West.

Most of the money will be raised by students of the University and will go into the Rag funds to be distributed at the end of the acedemic year to various local and national charities. The rest will be raised by representatives of national charities and will go straight to their particular charity.

What's needed to make it a reality

The company that provides the crane and bungee equipment is charging us £40 per jump which means that we are having to ask those taking part in the jump to either pay the charge themselves or raise at least £80 so that we can cover costs and still raise a good sum for charity.

£750 would fund 18 places and would mean that not only would more money go straight to charity but we could also invite other participants to get involved who have previously been put off by the high cost of the jump, a lot of people were interested but worried that they would not be able to raise £80 and did not want to end up out of pocket. I believe that if we could pay for the places or at least subsidise them then there is a number of people who would do the jump and raise more money for charity.

As you are a student at Bath University you can access up to £750 for your project. It sounds like a great idea as many charities will really benefit. I'll be in touch soon.

    Cheers,
