How it's done
Where and when?Saturday 31 May 2008 the Blenheim Palace & Cotswolds Ribbon Walk
Saturday 14 June 2008 the Petworth House & South Downs Ribbon Walk
Saturday 21 June 2008 the Haddon Hall & Peak District Ribbon Walk
What is the Breast Cancer Care Ribbon Walk?
The Ribbon Walk is a fantastic day bringing together hundreds of women and men to take part in a circular walk through beautiful countryside. The Ribbon Walk offers people the chance to challenge themselves and to raise funds to make a difference to the lives of those affected by breast cancer.
Starting at some of the country’s most magnificent stately homes - Blenheim Palace, Petworth House or Haddon Hall, participants can choose to follow a 10 or 20 mile circular Ribbon route. Whatever route, we promise an unforgettable Ribbon Walk day with a mixture of fantastic trails and beautiful scenery.
Volunteers needed!
To ensure the smooth-running of the Ribbon Walks, we are seeking to recruit key volunteers to help us on the day. There is a variety of roles including marshalling along the route, manning rest stops and cheering at the finish line.
There are also a number of specialised roles that must be filled on the day:
• Vehicle drivers
• Medics
• Guides
• Masseurs
To run each event successfully we need to recruit 100 volunteers for each event.
Together the volunteers will really define the atmosphere of the event, so their primary role is to celebrate the walkers. This means lots of smiling, cheering and encouragement! There are no age restrictions but volunteers under 18 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.
What is provided?
All volunteers will receive a free Breast Cancer Care ‘Crew’ T-shirt, refreshments and meals on the day. Anyone working as a car park marshal or course marshals will be issued with a high visibility event bib to wear. Some volunteers will also be issued with radios.
It would be helpful for volunteers to have access to a car in order to be able to move freely around the route.
