What it's all about

We plan to as a society raise awareness, among the Birmingham student community, about Arab culture. We realise that people may have the wrong idea quite often about what arab culture involves and we are passionate about improving this view. We plan to set up an Arab week. At least one day would be dedicated to setting up stalls dedicated to each Arab country displaying souvenirs, flags, ornaments and information about the country. It would also include light foods from that country of origin. We then plan to have an Arab performance night with belly dancing shows, fashion shows ( with national dress from each of the countries) as well as Arab comedy skits. We plan to then follow this by an extensive buffet for the students to try out our Arab food!!

What's needed to make it a reality

We definitely need enough funding to pay for the caterers and souvenirs we want to get hold of. We will olaso need to get a tent or some tables from the guild as we plan to hire out mermaid square. We will also need to hire out the underground for the performance night and sort out lighting and a DJ.

Thanks for adding the idea! As a student from University of Birmingham you can access up to £750 to help get your project off the ground. I love the idea of Arab awareness day...especially trying different foods from around the world! :)

    I'll be in touch soon!
