What it's all about

My inspiration stemns from smart kids who don't have the support from either their own familiy members or their school teachers, to become a success. I really believe my idea could help children not only in terms of education but also with their confidence.

What's needed to make it a reality

I'm currently looking for a Community centre who will help get this started. The goal is bring back the fun in education. With this, I'll be needing 2 laptops or computers depending on the centre, with broadband connection. This is particularly important to me as there are still several families without the advantage of having a computer with internet access in their homes. Providing this I believe will help the kids with homework and research projects, which will open their eyes to information they may not have had otherwise. Additionally, I'll needing games for the children which they can participate with others thier age. I've also thought of providing them with certifcates or some sort of award which they get at the end of the week. I think this is very important for kids that do well in school but may not get the acclamation they deserve. I will also be needing flyers to be sent out to families in and around the community to raise awareness of my project and informing them how they can join if they wish to do so.

Because you are a student at UEL you can access up to £750 to turn your idea into a reality. UEL is one of 15 Universities who are taking part in the scheme where you can access funding, training and support from your Junction49 staff member ( Joey ) to help you get your project up and running. She'll be in touch with you to start helping you develop your project.

What age children will you be aiming this at and how will you identify the children in need?
