What it's all about
One of the challenges facing students living out is dealing with recycling.
Can be big problems with recycling piling up and being a potential fire risk.
Although there are letters sent out to students about when their recycling is collected these can be overlooked.
To deal with this situation produce a fridge magnets explaining in simple, clear language what is recycled, when it's collected and who to contact if there are any problems.
There would be one type of magnet produced for students in Durham and another for students in Queen's Campus.
What's needed to make it a reality
Funding is the main problem.
We are also having discuusing the best design to keep people's attention, so the fridge magnet doesn't end up ignored.

Are you still interested in setting up the fridge magnet project?
I know from my own student days that you lose track of when the rubbish and recycling collections are and being in different cities mean that the types of products that can and can't be recycled differ.
Have you tried contacting your local council to see whether they already have a similar scheme? I know that some local authorities issue products such as firdge magnets and wallcharts to complement their recycling initiatives so it could be worth seeing if they would extend this to the student population.
Have you looked into how much the magnets would be to manufacture? Junction49 can help you get a project like this off the ground through our winfunding scheme http://www.junction49.co.uk/pages/win_funding/ .
