What it's all about
After attending the recent volunteering weekender I made a pledge with Junction49 to make a change in opportunities for under-graduates. Shadow opportunities. Pledge to Shadow is simply that, promising to give time each week/twice a month to a company who you may end up working for. Local area managers, nursing staff, teachers, radio stations, research field; whatever a University offers for a course, this program offers voluntary experience.
What's needed to make it a reality
People and businesses are what I need to get started. I study at Christ Church University, Kent. If anyone has any contacts that hey think may be interested, or any idea's of how I could get this off the ground, I'd be very grateful.
Thank you

Cheers for posting your idea - Junction49 is here to support you turn your idea into reality!
This sounds like a great idea and something that will really support undergrads to get a taster of their ideal job.
Here's a few things to think about:-
- Have you investigated what is already going on at your university's careers service? As well as talking through what they already offer, they will probably have contacts in the local area that may be able support you. You could also try other universities/FE colleges in your local area and their careers services.
- You probably need to think about how you'll recruit students and how you'll recruit the businesses. What are you offering the students and what are you offering the businesses?
- Some businesses/organisations already have work experience/work shadowing schemes, so maybe do a bit of research in this area.
- Will there be a set programme length, so lasting a month or 2?
I hope this has helped to kick-start your thought process. Junction49 can help you come up with an action plan which will give you support in the development of your idea into reality, so just get in touch if you would like us to work with you to come up with one.
We look forward to hearing from you soon!
