What it's all about

Since my first term of Uni I have volunteered for an amazing student-run organisation called Nightline which offers a unique service: totally confidential listening. We also provide sexual health supplies and information at any time of the night. Us students give up 10 hours of sleep every fortnight to be 'Nightliners' because we feel it has such a valuable role in Durham University supporting individuals through difficult times.
My vision as Publicity Officer for Nightline is to have an awareness week for everyone in the University to hear about what we do and remove the stigma of calling us. As a student-run, non-profit organisation we have limited funds to achieve this, but are so enthusiastic to help more people by letting them know we are there for them. Our plans are as follows:

Since we are an anonymous service, only 2 of us can be public faces so it makes publicity harder. These ideas would allow students to hear about us at a really difficult academic period without breaking anonymity.

We are willing to put in a lot of hard work but without the funding or supplies it will be difficult to achieve that vision. Any help, advice or funding would revolutionise this new initiative of a campaign week.

What's needed to make it a reality

OUR IDEAS:

- Funding for new posters in colour with the slogan 'All night. All term. All ears.' These would be put up in 12 colleges, Stockton Campus and University buildings.
- Free Condoms to hand out with our sticker on. This would promote sexual health and wellbeing as well as advertising that we provide condoms.
- Handing our bottles of water before exams with the line 'Don't bottle it up' and our number. This would increase mental ability and health and help people remember our number.
- Free post-it pads during revision to help people with studies and remind them Nightline is still there.
- Ballooons saying 'Ready to burst? Talk to Nightline'.

I would be very grateful for advice on whom to approach for things like free condoms, food or bottled water as these would make the campaign more effective.

Primarily, lack of funding is our main barrier in my idea becoming reality and the anonymity means that it is harder to do group-campaigning.

We have already got approval from the student's union but could do with some help making the dream of Nightline Week a reality in our University that everyone can benefit from.
