What it's all about

After doing voluntary work at a retirement centre for the aged a friend and I have decided to organise a tea dance for around 50 local residents. We want the event to be free, we have secured a hall and a string quartet and some basic music so far with no cost. We have asked the locals and they are all very excited about it.

What's needed to make it a reality

We need someone to lead the dancing. We need a person who is familiar with teadances and can teach steps to different types of dance to make this a really exciting afternoon.

Good work on blagging your venue and music free!

Do you have a date set yet for this? You'll need that confirmed to tell someone who'll be leading the dancing!

Junction49's staff member at UCL might be able to help you with contacts at UCL - maybe someone from a ball dancing society or similar? Her name is Nadia Cole, and her email address is junction49@ucl.ac.uk. Or you could try contacting other universities in london in case they have some who would be willing to help you out.

Another option is to find out who is running the Spitalfields tea dances , the contact details for those are:

    Shining Wit (Spitalfields Event Information)
    events@shiningwit.co.uk
    020 7470 8736

There have been a few tea dances on Junction49 before...check these out too - if you comment on them the organisers should be able to give you advice about your event Smile

Tea Dance in Northumbria, the Junction49 user wren was also involved in that one.
Rock 'n' Roll Tea Dance and Tea Dance for the Elderly in Loughborough.

If you're still having trouble let us know and we can think again!

    Good luck,

    Zoë
