What it's all about
Student Link will provide a new, central source of information and advice to students with academic queries. The project will be targeted at students over the key periods of assessment and examinations so as make students aware of their academic rights and responsibilities.
This will be a virtual online service, (like msn) where student could easily access the service and talk to a student link advisor through instant messaging. Students could ask any questions in regards to finance, academic, housing and various other issues. Students will also have the opportunity to leave messages for a advisor to answer and get back in touch with them.
This service provided 100 % confidentiallity and also allows the student sto be annonymous so they could more freely and easily ask any questions they want wihtout the fear of being identified.
Volunteers will undergo training in order to gain a comprehensive knowledge of the support services available within the University and have an understanding of the regulations, to assist students with their academic related queries and direct them to the appropriate faculty staff/office. Volunteers will also carry an extensive library of useful leaflets and information in order to directly refer students to the appropriate University service.
