What it's all about

This projects aims are to help older people who are housebound, by offering a volunteer service which ensures they will receive regular phone calls from Student Volunteers so they can have contact with the outside world.

This project will not only benefit the older people but also the students themselves. The volunteers will receive training to ensure they have the skills necessary to take part in the project. There will be regular meetings to allow the volunteers to get to know each other better and to raise any issues that they might have over a cup of tea and cake. There will also be further training if required. It's also about meeting new students that will be starting in sept or having a cup of hot chocolate with your friends.

This project may be expanded further in the future for example, students could take the older people out on day trips such as the beach or Christmas shopping. We could also run a ‘Slipper Appeal’ to provide slippers for the older people.

What's needed to make it a reality

we also need funding to get this project started. estimated about £300:
