Idea: Circus Workshops for Children

What it's all about

It's as the title says. We will be going into schools for a minimum of 3 - 6 weeks to teach children circus skills, particularly poi and stilts. They will get a certificate at the end of it. Both schools will have a fun day at the end to share their skills with each other.

What's needed to make it a reality

Equipment, CRB Checks, Hall rental (if possible).

We're not sure about anything else.

  • Avatar Burffy 11:58, 07 November 2007 Hi there. I am really interested in your idea. can please provide more info in regards to the age, for instance, and the possibility of doing the workshop for longer periods, or even outside school hours.
I have been looking for something similar around Cambridge but so far you are my best go
  • Avatar CASPS 14:29, 07 November 2007 It will be primary age, undecided yet as it depends on the school and the head teacher. It will be an after school club so it doesn't interfere with normal school hours.

We will be doing it in two other schools as well after so 4 schools get a chance.
  • Avatar Burffy 15:35, 09 November 2007 I can help you to get a time slot and pupils from 4 y/o onwards with a primary school near Cambridge (Royston) where I volunteer as a PR Officer. I know for sure they will be happy to have you there. but I am not sure if you are able to travel the distance, as the school will not be able to pay for any of your time and travel expenses

If for any reason you are not able to do the workshop in Royston, I would really apreciate if you can give me a hand finding people who may be able to make it.

    Thanks
  • Avatar CASPS 01:35, 11 November 2007 Thank you but I'm afraid we are in Derby, not Cambridge.
  • Avatar zw!tch 15:27, 10 January 2008 Hi Burffyy,

Cambridge Community Circus might be able to help you...they will charge for their time but the prices seem very reasonable! Maybe a few people could pay to go to a workshop or two and then run some sessions at the school?

    Check it out!
