What it's all about

This is a gardening project targeted at anyone who can help. You can come with family, friends or just on your tod! It will be a fun, educational day out that volunteers and more importantly, the environment will benefit from.

What's needed to make it a reality

Why it was needed

This is a gardening project targeted at anyone who can help. You can come with family, friends or just on your tod! It will be a fun, educational day out that volunteers and more importantly, the environment will benefit from.

What's being done

Agents 4 Change has organised an exciting gardening project at Lydiard Park!

We have 11,000 young trees that need tending to, to ensure their survival.
These trees have been planted to replace the lost woodland of Lydiard, which was lost due to tree felling in the park to provide timber for the war effort in the 1940's.

The guards on the bottom of the trees need removing and the weeds and grass clearing out, then the guards putting back. This project will give the young trees a better chance of survival, therefore allowing the lost wood to return.
It is not a particularly skilled job so anyone can join in!

This is going to be a huge project with many partners and volunteers. Even BBC Radio Swindon and Wiltshire are going to help publicise it and will be there on the day to help out, do interviews and much more!

A new date has now been set for this project. Let's just hope the weather will hold out for it this time!

A TREEmendous Day Out will be held on Saturday, 8th March from 10am until 3.30pm.

It will be held at Lydiard Park, Swindon.

Hope this all goes well for you and you get lots of volunteers!

For anyone who can't make it to this but wants to do something similar why not check out the BBC's breathing places? You can find projects happening near you and get involved! The days are getting longer now leaving more hours to spend outside getting your vitamin D and helping england's green and pleasant land
