Why it was needed

With our exhibition we wanted to encourage and inspire students to do their studies and for them to feel confident with themselves. We wanted to encourage them to keep off the streets and to try and support and give them confidence to reach thier goals.

What's being done

I.D was an exhibition held in 'The Troubadour', Earl's Court that was created by 5 students, 2 who are photographer's and 3 who are graphic artists, who portrayed to the public a collection of ideas representing a modern 2008 society as well as work based on their inner most thoughts and desires, using a variety of media. This included photography and modern art.

Our work included us looking at the influences of the 'size 0' (oil canvas), the human birth mark (photographs), performing arts (paint on canvas), present/future dreams (photographs) and childhood (printmaking and paintings).

The exhibition ran for 4 days for various hours which was during the day. We had 1 private view which was open to close friends and family only, for 3 hours.

To help us make our exhibition happen, Junction 49 proudly sponsored us. They helped us make payments towards advertising our exhibition, the venue and accessories for our art work and gave us advice along the way.

How it started

We started off our project by getting inspiration from artists and galleries and formed a group of 5 to show our personal interests about Identity.

We wanted to show people our age and younger that they should be confident in what they do and who they are and to show this we thought to give the biggest imapct on our audience was to show our work in an exhibition and the size of our work started from a size A4 up to A2.

To help share out the responsibilities within the group we all had our individual roles to play. We had a finance co - ordinator, an administrator, a gallery co - ordinate, a graphic designer and a publishing co - ordinate.
