What's needed to make it a reality

Why it was needed

CATSS is a group which works with underprivaledged children who are referred to us by social services.

What's being done

We organised a daytrip for 13 referred children with the support of 13 student volunteers. Using minibuses to collect the children from their homes we went ice skating, bowling and finished up on the beach at Whitley bay.

How it started

A team of four students organised the daytrip, which involved planning and booking activities, recruiting and training a further 10 volunteers and laising with social services to find the children. Junction 49 money helped to fund the transport and activities costs, and Volunteer Support Officer support was used for advice on training, volunteer recruitment and budget planning.
