- How is Junction49 funded?
Junction49 is a free service run by the charity TimeBank and kindly funded by T-Mobile and v. TimeBank, T-Mobile and v have been working together to create new opportunities for 16-25 year olds to turn their own ideas in to real community projects. The partnership is empowering young people across England to find a voice and make a difference in their communities.
- Why should I use Junction49?
There are different ways to make a difference in the world. Lots of organisations are asking for your help. But perhaps none of that is inspiring. Junction49 is Youth Led - which means we want young people to lead the way. Junction49 helps you do something YOU want to do and get your mates to help!
Want to make a difference? Why not do it on your terms with your ideas. Maybe you’ve had a brainwave about making a positive change in your community, or have long been harbouring the desire to make people listen about an issue you feel strongly about. As long as your ideas are geared towards social change, anything goes.
Tell the world your idea. You can just put your idea out there and see who bites. Or later on when you've figured out how to do it, you can add specific actions for people to take up to take your idea forward.

About Ideas, Actions, Funding
- What is an idea?
An idea can be big or small, inspired by someone else or completely new and different. All we ask is that it is positive – so it will have a positive impact on the world when you turn it into reality. You can post anything from a thought you had the other day at the bus stop to a project that you’ve already set up – once you’ve posted your idea you get a gallery and journal to chart your progress and keep everyone up to date.
- What is an action?
An action is a task that needs to be done by other young people to help turn your idea into reality. You need to have an idea before you can create the actions associated with it. Your idea is the inspiration, the background, the info that lets everyone know what's making you tick. The actions are the nitty-gritty - when, how many, which skills and exactly what help do you need...they are a tool to help you make sure your idea gets turned into reality smoothly - actions are your call to other young people for help!
For example, an idea could be getting more young people to volunteer to run your youth group, and an action is that you are looking for 2 people next Tuesday. Or your idea is running football sessions in your local area, and an action is someone finding out where you can buy cheap footballs.
Any Junction49er can grab an action.- What if I don’t have an idea of my own?
Check out the other ideas on the site – you can search for particular types of ideas and actions and offer your help, or just have a look and see if inspiration arrives! Junction49 also runs idea generation sessions – contact us for more details and to see if we could run one in your area. Junction49 is all about youth-led action – this is your chance to do what YOU want!
