What's needed to make it a reality
Why it was needed
The Vine Centre in Hyson Green, Nottingham wanted students to put on an event over half term for local kids as there was nothing going on.What's being done
Students at Nottingham Trent University came to the rescue! 9 Students got together, came up with some wicked ideas and planned the sessions which included:-Story writing, puppet making and book binding
Jewellery making
Card making
Biscuit decorating
Cooking Pizzas
Baking scones
Drum workshop
How it started
I sent out a shout out to students and was overwhelmed by the amount of people who wanted to help! We had a meeting where students came up with ideas of what sessions they wanted to run. Then in small groups they planned what equipment they needed and what they needed to do to prepare. On the day the 9 project leaders managed another 13 volunteers on the day. We also invited Nottingham City Counci playworkers who helped out on the day. They loved it because they could relax and have their feet massaged while the students manged the kids! Some of the students enjoyed themselves so much that now they'rethinking of doing more volunteering wit hthe playworkers in the future!More
