What it's all about
I would like to put on a community Action day hopefully on the 15th March. I would like to get students under taking the following projects:
1) Cleaning up a church yard
There’s is a church yard in Birmingham that has been vandalised and just left to over grow. I feel this is a real shame and feel that it needs to be cleaned up.
2) Witton Lakes
A park in Witton has just been treated as a rubbish dump, and we would really like to see it get cleaned up so children can play there again.
3) Mental Health centre
There’s a mental health centre near by who have patience’s stop over, at the moment all the rooms are just white and bear, making them seem like a prison cell, and is very depressing so we would like to give them a coat of paint and a more homely feel, as the patience would really benefit from this.
We would love to be able to go to all three projects all on one day.
What's needed to make it a reality
- Volunteers the more the better, I'm hoping to get the RA’s involved and other societies.
- Posters/leaflets to advertise the day
- Food and drink to give everyone who turns up on the day as they will get hungry
- T-shirts/aprons for people to wear so people know who they are and that there own clothes don’t get dirty
Equipment: Rollers/brushes
Gloves
Litter pickers
Shears
Black/green bags
Paint
Etc.
- Transport to and from the projects – were hoping to use public transport were possible.
In order to do all this we will need around £500.

Thanks for adding the idea to the website! Will be in touch soon about funding
Antonia :)
This sounds great! Do you need to get permission from the church and park owners first?!
As you are a student at Birmingham, one of 15 universities working in partnership with Junction49, your Volunteer Support Officer(VSO), Antonia (who commented above!) will be in touch with you to help you access up to £750 of funding and offer you support throughout the development of your project :)
