What it's all about

The aim is to provide a safe and fun environment for disaffected and bored youth whilst simultaneously encouraging them to be become engaging and active members of the community.

A venue in the Brondesbury area has been secured and here I am hoping to provide facilities that attract disillusioned yongsters, such as tv and dvd, wii and a table tennis table. However at the same time I will deliver interactive workshops that invite self-reflection and self- confidence- this is the main purpose of the project.

I am fairly confident that if I were to carry out the structured workshops in isolation, there would not be as large or as receptive an audience then if other 'permanent' and fun facilities were available. In this light a table tennis table would be integral to drawing the attention of the youth.

The person who has offered the venue is eager to help and provide services to ensure the success of the project and his experiences with young people will be invaluable.

What's needed to make it a reality

Willing volunteers- preferably those that have already been CRB checked
advice from experienced people- e.g. those that have led a volunteer project, worked with young people etc.

  • Avatar Nadia Cole 09:56, 03 March 2008 This is a great project offering fun activities to engage young people in positive activities and offer them a safe environment to learn more about themselves and others. It was good to meet you and help you develop your project and gain Junction49 funding. Hopefully you can keep us posted of how things go by posting updates on 'Running Projects' section of Junction49 Uni webpages and I'll continue to offer you support.
