What it's all about
I am organising a beach litterpick to Seaham on Thursday 5th June. This will give 50 students at Durham University the change to partake in environmantal work on Seaham beach. There will be a coach taking students from the centre of Durham to the beach and back. This will be an opportunity for studetns to litterpick for part of the day then have some time to relax and play beach games. This will be a great end of year celebration for all the great volunteering our students have done this year and will be a chance for new people to get involved in volunteering and meet new people.
What's needed to make it a reality
I will be organising this event as the Junction 49 Volunteer Support Officer at Durham University and the funding provided will pay for the coach to transport the students to the beach.

I helped out an on beach clean a while back...it was pretty satisfying - it's really easy to see the difference a group can make in just one day!

Don't know the mechanics of how the volunteer office's run at universities but perhaps a inter uni project, "Durham, Northumbria, and Newcastle" could be created for the good of the environment, what do you think, something to investigate?
Thanks for posting
