What it's all about

The idea:

A chairty fundraiser for Spinal Research, basically, a kids day where they come and play games!

Children; of primary school age, would come to the event and just play active games for a whole day.
Coming to playing games, not the regular football, basketball etc, but things like steal the balls, Octopus tag, dodge ball etc. These games would form the fundamentals of mainstream sports, but in a fun setting. There would be small scale competition, but not in such a serious sporting way. The games would incorporate aspects from sports but are less rigid and formal for younger kids who would learn that activities and exercise are fun!

Each child would be asked to bring a ball (with their own name on), of any sort, which would then be used during the day.

A few organisations have already been contacted for raffle prizes.

What's needed to make it a reality

A sports hall and some sporting equpiment (cones, balls etc) and the kids of course!

As you are a student at Nottingham Trent University you can get up to £750 in funding and support from me, the Volunteer Support Worker!

Sounds like a fab idea! Can't wait to meet you to find out more and hopefully get you started.

I'm in the Soap Station on Thursdays and Fridays - it would be great if you could pop in for a chat when you are free.

    Catie
