What it's all about

i am looking for sponsership to go to Tanzania as part of my research for my dissertation and also work experience. I was offered a placement opportunity working with the Kiwakkukki Womens project a project that is working with women who are HIV positive and also raising awareness among women. My research topic is HIV and AIDS and am focusing on gender inequalities and cultural issues. Working with the Kiwakkukki project will help me gain insight on the cultural issues affecting women in Tanzania and how these have brought about gender inequalities. The aim of the research is to influence policy makers to make polices that will protect women for abuse and empower women in order to combat the burden of HIV and AIDS.

What's needed to make it a reality

I need sponsorship to pay kiwakkukki £30/ week as asked and to pay for accomodation food and transport cost and prepared to pay for my flights fare.

Because you are a student at Nottingham University you can access up to £750 to turn your idea into a reality. Nottingham University is one of 15 Universities who are taking part in the scheme where you can access funding, training and support from your Junction49 staff member (Catie Smith) to help you get your project up and running.

You could also ask at your union about any grants they know of that could help you which are given out through the university for projects like yours.

    Good luck!

You could spend some time looking through the 'Directory of Grant Making Trusts' which you can find at the library or on the web at www.grantsforindividuals.org.uk where they may be some grants you could apply for. However if you want some help with organising some fundraising to raise you a bit of cash I might be able to help with info and support to help you organise an event.

If you want to come and see me I work in the Soap Staion upstairs in the Byron building on Thursdays and Fridays. Or feel free to give me a call on 0115 848 6219.

    Thanks!
