Have you looked at websites such as The Energy Saving Trust (www.energysavingtrust.org.uk) as they have lots of tips as to how we can all be greener; you can calculate how much you could save in bills and the environmental impact through an application on the site. Also www.energysavingsecrets.co.uk has some facts regarding light bulbs e.g. saving £9 per year for every bulb you switch.
For students living in rented accommodation this is one way they can make a BIG difference. Try contacting Universities to see if they have an environmental awareness week. You could use this as your platform for telling students about how much they could save as we all know they have a tight budget!
Also try to be as green as possible with your publicity!
Add some actions to this idea so people know how they can get involved and don’t hesitate to contact Junction49 helpdesk if you would like some further advice or maybe some funding to get your idea off the ground.
Best of luck with this,
Victoria
Here at Junction49 we are currently offering users the opportunity to win up to £1000 to turn their ideas into reality, judging against the criteria on this page http://www.junction49.co.uk/pages/win_funding. We've just chosen the ideas we'd like to offer funding to and yours is one of them!
Are you currently at university? If so which one? Junction49 is running a scheme at 12 universities across the country and if yours is one of them you will be eligible to slightely different support.
Have a think about you could use this to run a campaign to students to encourage energy saving bulbs. Then your next step is to decide on your proposed budget and let us know. We can offer you £300 but if you feel you could put more to good use then let us know why in the budget you send us. Please can you also email a contact phone number (in fact ideally a mobile and landline) to help@junction49.co.uk?
Hope to hear from you soon :)
