What it's all about
I am setting up an hour long self-defence class available to new female students at the university focusing on freshers. We aim to repeat the class to allow for as many students to take part as possible. It has come to my attention, with a number of messages on safety from the Students Union concerning particular occurrences which took place during the last few academic years that the self-defence of students in Loughborough is paramount.
What's needed to make it a reality
I will be recruiting a small team of students from the local community so I will need help with training these students into running a successful event.

This project has already been put into action and I believe planning is currently underway, having accessed the funds necessary to make this idea a reality. It's going to take place in the second week of November and I'm sure Sam would love for you to get involved. If you have any ideas yourself of a project you would like to run, then post your idea up on the website and get in contact with Darren, your VSO, who can help you access funding, support and training.
Now you've accessed the funding, maybe you could add some actions to your idea (tasks which other volunteers could sign up to, to help you out), and you can start adding to your diary letting everyone know how the planning stages are going.
Christopher in UWE is planning on running his own self-defence week at the University of the West of England, it might be worth getting in contact to see if there is anyway of helping eachother or offering advice.
You can see his idea page here: http://www.junction49.co.uk/idea/1838/uwe_self_defence_week/
