What it's all about
This project will work with a group of 6-10 young people aged between 13 and 19 who are HIV+. The young people will produce a short DVD about what their HIV status means to them and will then produce a resource pack to work alongside the DVD which can be used in schools and youth clubs to discuss the subject of HIV. The main aims of the project are to encourage the young people involved to be more confident about discussing their HIV status and to share their experiences with other young people. On a wider scale, the DVD and resource pack will be used to educate young people and break down some of the prejudices and stereotypes that surround the subject of HIV and Aids and instead give the true facts about the Virus.

As you are a student at De Montfort you can access up to £750 to turn your idea into a reality. De Montfort is one of 12 Universities who are taking part in the scheme where you can access funding, training and support from your Volunteer Support Officer (Glen) to help you get your project up and running. In the meantime, it might be worth getting in contact with students who study Film Studies perhaps or are a part of your student media activities, as they may be able to give you advice on how to produce your own film and dvd at low cost, or may even be interested in joining you in setting up this amazing project.
