What it's all about

Fancy a day out in the country with some free food and drink thrown in at the end?

Lee Valley Regional Park have a ditch that needs clearing. Now, I’m sure your thinking “A DITCH?! Why would I want to do that?!” Well its not just clearing out a ditch, think of it as extreme gardening! This is some vital conservation work which the park needs done as the area has become overgrown with elder trees, shrubs and probably a shopping trolley or two. It is in the middle of a golf course owned and run by the park. The manager has agreed to divert play around the area when this project is run to stop any stray balls hitting the volunteers (our original idea of providing volunteers with motorcycle helmets was turned down even though it would be more exciting).
The park will arrange for contractors to come in and do most of the really nasty work like ripping out nettles cos no one likes being stung.

The date has now been set - Thursday 27th November - Meeting at Trent Park and Hendon Campus then we will travel together to the park. Wrap up warm!

What's needed to make it a reality

We will provide gloves, wellies, tools, transport from base campuses and food and booze at the end of the day.

We just need as many volunteers as we can find to come with us who don't mind getting their hands dirty while moving a few bushes, and chopping down some elders.
