What it's all about

I would like to start a video production company within the university that can be used to help promote and raise awareness for other work within Junction 49 or events being raised for charity as well as film other events for any of the universities sports and social clubs.
The idea started with a dvd that i made for the universities dance team for their end of year showcase, in which i recorded the event and edited it together to make a professional dvd for the members to have copies of. Since then people have asked me to provide a similar service various events and projects, so it would be worth while to get as many people involved as possible.
It will also help other students within the university who are studying production courses in getting more hands on experiences with professional equipment and in a professional working environment.
There will also be opportunities to have practical workshops, not only for students but for schools and people in the community to learn more about working with all aspects of video and film production.

What's needed to make it a reality

The project would be ready to start but it needs funding to secure certain features and equipment stay constant.

    This is a really unique idea and would be great if you were able to run workshops in schools and other people in the community to learn how to make their own videos. Perhaps you could start small by advertising within the university and getting other students involved. Then once you've established your project with a clear idea of what you want to achieve, you could approach local schools with your idea and see if they would be interested in letting you hold the workshop at their school.

    As you are a student at Derby University, you can access up to £750 to help turn your idea into reality. Derby is one of 12 universities who are taking part in the scheme where you can access funding, training and support from your Volunteer Support Officer (Jo) to help you get your project up and running.
