What it's all about

I'm starting a garden club in my local primery school, the idea is to engage the children in growing food for the school, to respect there envorionment, and get activly envoled in out door activities. The insperation for this project came from the children themself. i started just by clearing up there outside space and taking to the children about growing plants and the inpartanse of looking after the enviroment. i then asked the children if they would like a garden club, over 100 kids said yes. The school is happy for me to go in and do a lunch time garden club, the kichen has said they will take any produce we grow and incorperate it into the menu, but i have very limeted knewledge of growing food, so this i learing curve for myself and the childen. we are all very exicted as most of the children dont have gardens, some have never seen a worm!!!!

What's needed to make it a reality

we need tools, seeds, books, advice, wellies, gloves, maybe a shed, compost bin, wormmery, blubs...............we really do need advice, we have a very small patch lots of energy and keen hands to do some digging!!

This sounds like a great project to get children excited about their food and even better that the kids have asked for this themselves. I think it's great that what the kids are going to grow will actually be incorporated into their school dinners
