  • Avatar Sarah 15:15, 11 June 2009 J49 Staff Hi Pritesh,

Great to meet you yesterday. I hope you enjoyed the training session . I think this idea is great and there were quite a few ideas floating around yesterday about how you could it - whether you organise a Christmas time ball for the society to raise money that way and hire out a venue, or whether you incorporate it into the annual boat trip, by turning it into an extra special boat ride with sit down meal etc... - that would be amazing and certainly something to remember.

Here's another idea on Junction49 where they did a ball, you could always ask them for some advice.

I was thinking another completely idea of something you could do and potentially something really cheap is to organise an Old School Sports Day - this is something you could easily organise before the end of July if you fancied or could always do a summer fete type thing and plan that for next summer?

Here are a few other fundraising ideas on Junction49, which you might be interested in, or could inspire you:

http://www.junction49.co.uk/idea/1910/pop-a-thon/(this event was so simple and I think they raised about £500 for charity)
    http://www.junction49.co.uk/idea/2032/charity_easter_egg_hunt_2009/
http://www.junction49.co.uk/idea/1899/kickstart_kenya/ (they have some fab ideas, like getting people to fill in a map of Africa with spare pennies. It looked really effective and they raised over £200. You could always do this with an eye and maybe save the middle bit for some silver coins?

They're just a few ideas anyway and if you wanted to get anything done before the end of July, then don't forget you can access up to £300 through Junction49. Anything past July 31st, we are more than happy to help you look into alternative funding opportunities and will provide you with all the support and advice you need to do this :-)

Just let us know what we can do to help, we're more than happy to help in whatever way we can :-)

Just thought I would let you know about this funding opportunity which I think you have a really strong chance of getting and would really urge you to apply. The deadline is 30th June so very soon, but it's worth a chance and you can apply for between £500 and £5000.
