What it's all about
We're trying to establish a venue in chorlton, Manchester, where local artisans, residents, and alternative health practitioners can ply their trade, hold workshops, sell work and enjoy tasty vegan food in the on-site cafe.
The idea came initially from seeing the Forest Cafe up in Edinburgh which is volunteer-run and fabulous...
What's needed to make it a reality
We need fundraising activities to get enough cash together to afford the lease on a place in chorlton. We also need people to keep their eyes peeled for suitable premises with a kitchen and enough space for a therapy room or two.
We'll need help in moving into a place when we find it, i.e. electircs, plumbing, redecorating, beautifying and the like! That'll be the fun bit!
We need donations for our fundraising stall at Beech Road Festival in chorlton on Sunday 5th July... ideally art-based contributions for us to sell on and keep the full value (or give the cash to the artist minus a small commission). We'll also be on the lookout for writers/craftspeople/those who make homemade cosmetics (all vegan please!) or tasty vegan foodstuffs (ingredients lists please!).

Comments
Thanks for posting up your idea on Junction49.
You should check out this idea about a Vegan cake sale recently held at Manchester uni. There are quite a few comments and one was from the Manchester Vegan Society who may be well worth getting in contact to with as they may be a real asset to your project:

Check out this art idea, might be useful for your stall on 5th July:

So many fundraising projects have taken place through Junction49 and here's a few which might offer you some inspiration:

If you want to find out more about any of their ideas you can just comment on them.
Once you've moved into your venue you should check out http://www.junction49.co.uk/forum/comments.php?DiscussionID=27&page=1#Item_1 You'll be able to get paint for just a small donation, which I'm sure will make all the difference.
If you're looking to apply for big grants of funding, let us know and we can look into funding options for you and even help you apply for the funding yourself. I know you've mentioned community grants already so just wondering whether you have applied to any. Just give us a shout if you need any help.
If you're thinking of setting this up as a social enterprise, then here might be a good place to look:http://www.unltd.org.uk/template.php?ID=10&PageName=level1_examples
Good Luck and let us know what we can do to help out :-)
