What it's all about
Our mission is to facilitate social change through education and learning, by providing talented, passionate individuals and organisations with the knowledge and practical experience to become effective agents of social change.
This objective will be reached through the synergy between our three core goals:
1.) 1-Year CORE Programme:
Seeducation will provide young talents who do not fit into traditional education systems with the opportunity to take part in a FREE 1 - Year course which will focus on development through creativity and practical involvement in real-life projects, with the help of mentors, trainers and experts in their respective fields.
Our "Seeds" will graduate from the course as inspired, socially entrepreneurial individuals that will have developed practical knowledge in initiating and leading a wide array of projects. They will know more about themselves, how they work best, and how to work with and inspire others.
The aim of the course is to:
• Enable them to discover their unique personal direction.
• Improve their employability, life and leadership skills.
• Allow them to develop promising ideas into real projects, showing them the value of
social and ethical business.
2.) Campaign to reform education:
Conducting research, focus groups, running a think-tank, and finding a path to the most desired methods and outcomes of education, listening to education professionals and providing a voice for the less privileged. We want to collect all of these opinions and make sure they are being
heard and implemented by key decision-makers.
3.) Online hub of free information and training:
Making available all of our findings, knowledge and experience. Building a directory of training courses, organisations, and key contacts in order to facilitate change. We want to be the go-to place for people who are interested in developing themselves and making a difference for
others. We will also provide free online learning material and user generated content.

I'm Sarah from the Junction49 Helpdesk here to help you turn your idea into reality.
I love the name of your idea, but was just wondering what exactly Seeducation is and the revoluntionary new system, I am definitely intrigued!
Junction49 is where young people can develop their own ideas for positive change in the community and students who wish to develop a voluntary project to benefit the community can access up to £750 before 31st July 2009 to help turn your idea into a reality. Bath is one of 12 Universities who are taking part in the scheme where students can access funding, training and support from your Volunteer Support Officer (Scarlett) to help you get your project up and running. Scarlett will also be able to let you know if you're eligible to receive funding. Check out:

Thanks for your message :)
You can find out more about is here: www.seeducation.org (note: the website is currently being redesigned).
Can you have a quick look at it and let me know whether this is the kind of idea would be eligible for funding? Or would it be best for me to arrange a meeting with Scarlett?
Have a good day :)

I checked out your website it looks good and good luck with your UnLtd application too. If you're looking to do something before the end of July it's definitely worth setting up a meeting with Scarlett and then anything after that date, I can help you out with i.e. fundraising ideas etc..
Just let me know what help you need.

I noticed someone else from Seeducation has also joined the site. If you want to co-own the idea you can do so by clicking on the button underneath your picture and then once they accept they have equal rights to editing your ideas page.
Just thought I would let you know :-)

I've contacted Scarlett as well to arrange a meeting, will let you know how it goes. Do you work in the office in Kent then?

Great to hear from you :)... Seb's in Bath for the moment, but I am in London. Who's best to see, you or Scarlett, or both? Shall Seb meet Scarlett in Bath and the two of us can arrange to meet in London? It means we can have different views on our ideas and how to approach it. What do you think?
Thanks, cheers

It's probably best for Seb to meet with Scarlett in the first instance as if you want to do anything before the 31st July she can help you with accessing the funding etc... and then anything else beyond that I can help with :-)

Thanks for calling me earlier Seb, as I said, I'm not quite caught up yet from being on holiday last week, but seeing you on Friday is giving me time to read more about Seeducaton and give some thought to your idea.
I saw this and thought it would be worth a look; there's a fair bit of funding you can apply for through ideas tap

I'm sorry we couldn't be of more help financially, though I've discovered a few things which might help.
Have you considered setting up as a Social Enterprise instead of a charity? I went to a seminar on working within International Development last night, and loads of the speakers were encouraging social enterprise as a great way of doing good without relying on external funding like charities do.
Now, you probably know about most of these already, if not all, but just in case:
www.businesslink.gov.uk has all the practical info you need to set up.
www.Ashoka.org gives advice and support for social entrepreneurs. The following are a couple of the projects they have helped grow, internationally as well as in the UK:
www.fightforpeace.net www.fairfinance.org.uk
www.socialenterprise.org.uk have a great resource base
and I found this overview of what a Social Enterprise is to be really helpful, especially section 9 which is about legal structures. http://www.socialenterprise.org.uk/pages/frequently-asked-questions.html
There’s loads more, I just managed to open a whole can of worms and find info and advice left, right and centre! Do ignore this if you’re definitely going for setting up a charity, but I thought that your business model could fit quite well into this.
I hope it’s all going well, I’ll keep an eye on the site to track your progress!
