What it's all about
The aim of the project is to bring together young people of all heritage in Leicester so they can share their cultural values and also learn about other young people`s. We want to bring them together in a safe environment where they will be able to showcase, for example things about their country of origin, their native language or anything else they might like to share with their peers. In the summertime young people do not usually have a lot to do in their community so this will be an opportunity for them to get involved and at the same time the event will promote community cohesion amongst young people. We will aim to get at least 50 young people to attend the event.
What's needed to make it a reality
Need help promoting the event and finding young people to attend.
Also need help getting youth organisation to come and have an information stand or do a presentation to the young people.
Need lots of leaflets with information that can benefit young people, ie on what opportunities they can get involved in.
Also need help getting some freebies for the young people.
And prizes for a raffle to attract young people to the event.

Great to see your idea up on the site. It's brilliant that you've got funding from O2 Think Big to cover the cost of this event and I'm sure it'll be a huge success.
Have you spoken to Adill or became a fan of your other project? He's based in Leicester and might have some good youth organisation contacts based on the projects he himself has done before. I think he was in contact with Connexions which you could maybe speak to too.
If you like we could always send up some Junction49 flyers for people to pick up on the day?
Let us know what support you need from us in the run-up :-)

Just read your diary entry. Congrats on getting a space through somewhereto! The fact that the location is in the town centre is awesome and should hopefully draw people in :)
I see you've decided on a name change. Cultural get together sounds great. Do you know how to change the name on your Junction49 profile? If you need any help with this just ask.
All the exciting and new progressions with the project are definitely a good sign and i know the event will be a success. We can't wait to read all about it. Try and take some pictures/footage if possible. You can upload them to your profile so other Junction49ers can see your idea in action :-)
All the best with last minute preparations and if you need any help, as always we are more than happy to assist.

I think am gonna give it a go with the name change, have uploaded a few pics, our logo and the flyer though had to crop lots out of it.
Two more weeks to go now, quite excited but also nervous in a way.
Thanks

I can't believe the event is just 2 weeks away. Being excited and nervous I think is always a good thing, it shows you're really passionate about it. I have every faith it's going to be a success.

Yes i second what Sarah has said. Your logo looks great, its very lively and eye catching.
I know the two weeks will fly by and cant wait to hear all about it.
Margareet Report Abuse
Thank you very much, getting more nervous by the day.
Have had a few people saying they are attended but not too sure if they will actually turn up :(.
No worries. I totally know how you feel. Its normal to feel nervous before a big event but i am sure with all your advertising and hard work people are bound to turn up and show their support for this brilliant idea.
I suggest It might be good to do a video diary/journal of the preparation and how your feeling before the event, this way you get a chance to vent and take away some tension. Its also great to look back on when its all done and dusted.
I have so much belief in you and your idea and know others do too. People will turn up, just believe it :-)

Just had a look at your diary entries. By the sounds of it this is a great way to relieve any last minute jitters :-)
keep them coming

Just wanted to send you lots and lots of luck for tomorrow. I hope the event is huge success and everyone turns up. Let us know how it goes, will be great to hear all about it.
Also, check out the blog on the front page about your idea :-)
Sarah Report Abuse
Thank you for your continued support and the promo you sent through!
The event was a success and people took a lot from it which I felt was the most important thing.
I was really nervous and jittery on the day but once everything got under control I relaxed a little. The other guys were ok about it.
Read more on blog :)
Thanks x Report Abuse
We are trying to get on the blog but it`s only showing the heading. Nothing else is coming up :p.

Looks like you managed to get onto the blog ok? Great to hear about the event. It sounds like it went really well and you should definitely be very proud of what you achieved.
That's very exciting that you appeared in the local paper - well done!
It looks like there are many positive things to come in terms of The Go-Ahead Youth and we'll be happy to support you.
Now that you've finished this part of the project you can receive an AQA certificate. All you need to do is comment on someone else's idea and fill out this very short survey here: http://www.surveymonkey.com/s/doneanddusted We'll then send off for one and pop it into the post for you :-)
I'll comment on your new idea too :-)
Sarah Report Abuse
I just read your diary entries and wanted to say a big congratulations on the success of your event and for qualifying for an AQA award.
An appearance in the local paper is a great achievement and its something you can treasure for ever.
I think you've done so well to have delivered the project under such pressure and i wish you all the best for your future projects :-) Report Abuse
Just been on the blog now and it worked fine thanks. Don`t know what was wrong before.
And what`s this AQA certificate?Do you give these out yourselves or we have to apply for it? Could you let me know about it please? Also is it for the Group or individuals?
Actually i`ll go do the survery now and just take it from there. Exciting :)
Good things indeed ahead for T.G.Y. :P Report Abuse
Thanks for the best wishes. We are now planning another project -our second event Rising Stars.
I would also just like to say following our event one of our young people from T.G.Y is going to be speaking at a big event tomorrow "Leicester Speaks" about the youth organisation :) Good times.
And please wish her luck on twitter/facebook, our page etc. It`s all to do with somewhereto_ Report Abuse
Thanks for completing the survey, that's really great. Well the AQA is something that we give out to you in recognition of all your hardwork. We give it out to individuals, so it's young people on the site who have run ideas, but if there are other members in your group who would like to receive them, you could invite them to your most recent idea to become co-owners and then at the end as long as everyone completes a survey they'll be eligible to receive one.
You can read more about them here: http://www.junction49.co.uk/blog/77/fyi_aqas/
There's only one other thing that you need to do and that is to comment on someone else's idea, maybe offering a bit of advice or maybe just some words of support.
If you have any questions about it, just let me know :-)
Sarah Report Abuse
No worries. yes i have seen your new idea; Rising stars and have to say this is another fantastic idea with a great purpose. The Go-Ahead youth project are definitely reaching for the stars and jUNCTION49 are behind you all the way ;-)
I will definitely twitter about your appearance at the leceister speaks event tomorrow.
All the best and let us know how it goes.
Margareet Report Abuse
I just found out about this great competition which is being run where you could win £20,000 for your project and all you need to do is post it on this website - www.thestake.co.uk and get people to vote for the idea. The 20 ideas with the most votes or stakes will be shortlisted and then 6 will be given funding and support from some top mentors. If you go for it, let us know and we'll help promote it via Twitter and Facebook.
