What it's all about
To create a dance class in the area i live in and to help young people get into dancing who maybe cant afford dance classes professionally. I would like to also use the classes to help raise money for charities such as children in need. I would need help with funding for clothing and some where to hold the classes.
What's needed to make it a reality
Idea's how to get it together.

Welcome to Junction49. I'm Sarah from the Junction49 helpdesk here to support you in turning your idea into reality.
This sounds like a great project with many different elements of supporting your local community.
Have you heard of something called somewhereto? They support young people to find the spaces they need to do the things they want and they could help you to find a venue to run your dance classes without having to worry about paying for the venue. You can check them out here and get in touch with your local coordinator: http://www.somewhereto.com/
In terms of covering the cost of putting on the classes, there's a couple of different places that you could apply to:
- O2 Think Big http://www.o2thinkbig.co.uk/
Awards of up to £2500 for your project, given in stages, for projects to improve the community. This is open to 13-25 year olds. In the first round you can apply for £300 and then after you've completed that part of the project you might get invited to apply for £2500.
- Live UnLtd http://www.liveunltd.com/
Live UnLtd will give up to £5,000 of funding and all the support needed to turn a great idea into a reality. Open to 11-21 yr olds.
If you need any help at all with applying for funding just let me know. Once you've got a venue and funding sorted, you can use your funding to publicise your classes and also any fundraising activity that you put on. Do you already know some young people who want to attend the classes? Perhaps you could get in contact with local community centres/youth groups to see if any you can generate any interest that way.
I hope that helps to get you started. Let me know if you have any questions and you'll have to let us know how it all goes.
Sarah
P.S. Every Junction49er who sets up a project is eligible to receive an AQA certificate in recognition of all the effort you put in. To find out more about them, click here:http://www.junction49.co.uk/blog/77/fyi_aqas/

I know you're really busy with college at the moment, but just wanted to let you know about this:
I just found out about this great competition which is being run where you could win £20,000 for your project and all you need to do is post it on this website - www.thestake.co.uk and get people to vote for the idea. The 20 ideas with the most votes or stakes will be shortlisted and then 6 will be given funding and support from some top mentors. If you go for it, let us know and we'll help promote it via Twitter and Facebook.
