What it's all about
Team v are a group of young people inspired to make positive change in their local communities. We're currently running a campaign about loneliness and isolation amongst older people. This is an issue that believe to be very important as recent estimates place the number of people aged over 65 who are often or always lonely at over 1 million.
There are 3 aspects: Talk, Socialise, Connect.
Talk - meeting older people and talking about their experiences of loneliness and isolation.
Socialise - organising a social event
Connect - raising awareness of loneliness and isolation faced by older people in the community, and asking for help.
What's needed to make it a reality
I need volunteers:
- to help organise and facilitate focus groups with older people.
- to help plan and organise a social event which brings older people together
- to help raise awareness of this very important issue.

Welcome to Junction49. I'm Sarah here to support you in whatever way I can with your campaign.
I've heard lots of great things about Team v and the latest campaign looks fantastic.
I'm not sure what you're planning yet for your social event, but you can check out this page on the site which has some ideas from other young people about intergenerational projects. I also used to run a project called Digitall which matched young people with older people to teach them computer and internet skills. At the end of the project we ran a celebration event with a Wii and all of the mentees (older people) absolutely loved it - I was completely put to shame! Anyway there' a guide here which may be useful if you wanted to do something along these lines: http://www.junction49.co.uk/public/resources/digitall/Digitall_Volunteers_Guide.pdf
Also, a good centre to contact in London is the New Horizons centre in Kensington and Chelsea which we worked with on the Digitall project. They may be able to support you with your campaign, particularly with the focus groups. Their website details are here: http://www.new-horizons-chelsea.org.uk/nh/
Also if you are looking for venue space at all for your social event, you may have heard of them already, but if not check out www.somewhereto.com as they can help you find the space you need for free.
If you need any help at all, just let us know and keep us updated with how it's all going.
I'll tweet/post about it on Facebook too.
