What it's all about
All you ever hear is the bad stuff that the youth are comitting, I would like to keep the young people of the streets and bring them together through - Music , Dance and fun! I want to set up a hall and have a dj and a dance floor and everything - advertise the idea around the community and get everyone together. This is my dream as it will bring new people together and keep young people from being bored and messing about in the streets.
Amina has asked for help on this idea - Find out how you can helpWhat's needed to make it a reality
I have never done this before and never ever been to one myself, so I need someone who knows hows to rock the place. Obviously i'm going to need a venu plus a DJ who knows the tunes for the youths!

Welcome to Junction49. I'm Sarah from the Junction49 team here to support you in turning your idea into reality.
This sounds like a really fun event to set up and definitely something you could do. There's an organisation which now runs as a youth communications agency, but they started out by organising underage club nights for young people which were really popular. It's called The Eleven and you can check them out here: http://www.theeleven.co.uk/ I'm sure if you dropped them an email and told them what you wanted to do they may offer you a bit of advice.
In terms of where to do it, you could get in contact with www.somewhereto.com and they can help you to find a venue. They support 16-25 year olds to find the place they need to do the things they love. I know you've just turned 15, so you could always rope in a friend who is a bit older to contact them or you could give it a go and see what they say. (I'm not too sure if there is a particular reason for the age restriction.)
You'll probably need some funding too to cover the cost of putting the event on once you've got to that stage and there's a couple of places that you could apply to:
- O2 Think Big http://www.o2thinkbig.co.uk/
Awards of up to £2500 for your project, given in stages, for projects to improve the community. This is open to 13-25 year olds. In the first round you can apply for £300 and then after you've completed that part of the project you might get invited to apply for £2500.
- Live UnLtd http://www.liveunltd.com/
Live UnLtd will give up to £5,000 of funding and all the support needed to turn a great idea into a reality. Open to 11-21 yr olds.
If you need any help with applying for funding, just give me a shout. You can use the money to cover the cost of advertising the event and any equipment that you may need.
In terms of getting the project all set up, you'll probably want to recruit some volunteers to help you out with promotion and securing some entertainment. Why not ask around your school/college to see if there are any budding DJ's or bands out there who would like the chance to perform? You can also check out our 'Resources' section for some step-by-step guides that should be able to help.
I hope that helps to have a think about some of the things you need to do to get started. If you have any questions or need any help at all, just get in touch. Always more than happy to help wherever I can :-)
