What it's all about
My idea, stems from my own person insecurity and feelings. It has taken me a long time to look in the mirror and speak postive things in to my life, since overcoming my own insecurities and personal issues, I can now look in the mirror and say 'I AM BEAUTIFUL'. I got the inspiration, from my church youth group! What I aim to achieve is boosting self confidence agmonst young people, showing them that they are beatiful!
I am thinking big and aiming high! It would be nice to develop a team, whom would help me with this campaign, perhaps going to schools and youth centres across London, giving talks about self esteem, self worth and opportunities available for us young people. I aim to bring confidence to young people across London, and to give them something to aim for. I believe it is important that as young people, we encourage each other, and ourselves.
I would also want to create awareness of bullying through this, to show the impact it has on individuals, as I believe bullying could never be publicised enough! I aim to give people the voice and the confidence to speak up and out against bullies, but also to change the heart of those who have been bullies. I also aim to help people who are in difficult situations and troubling times, and give them the opportunity to voice concerns about how they feel about themselves and situations easily.
Through this, I would also like to encourage different race, ethinicites and religions to come together, and believe that they are beautiful. The media plays such a big part in our lives as we grow up, and I feel there are so many mixed messages about what is 'beautiful' and what looks are 'acceptable', and I feel it is important to explain that we all, as individuals of different shapes, sizes, cultural backgrounds, religion and race are beautiful and have the potential to do what we want and positive things in our lives.
What's needed to make it a reality
The help I would need is, ideas on how to start and how to progress this idea that I have. Also, how to finance it and manage it around my A level demands.
I would need help on how to develop the idea, and how to get it going, and someone to tell me whether it is a good idea, and whether it could go anywhere!

Welcome to Junction49. I'm Sarah from the Junction49 team here to support you in turning your idea into reality. Ideas like this I love and the general theme about boosting self confidence and being happy with who you are is very popular amongst the Junction49 community. Just to respond first to the last comment you wrote, you are definitely not too young to carry out this project so don't doubt that for one moment.
From what you've written there are a lot of different things that you want to achieve through your idea and to get started you might want to focus on one particular aspect. As time goes on you can then expand and grow the project as appropriate.
To start it might be a good idea to get a couple of people together who want to get involved and help out and brainstorm what it is you want to be saying. You can then have a think about fun activities that you could do to get your message across but be really engaging at the same time.
To give you a bit of inspiration, here are some links to other Junction49ers ideas about a similar theme:

This is a lovely project and the girls are currently running it through a blog, but are also creating posters which they hope to post up in schools. Might be worth commenting on their wall to see if you can collaborate.

A really similar idea in terms of what you want to achieve. Perhaps the first thing you could do as part of your project is organise an event at your school/college/ somewhere else in the local community, promoting your idea and making everyone feel good about themselves. You could recruit other young people here to get involved to help you out.

Hopefully this will give you a bit of an idea of how you want to get started. Another option would also be to contact local schools and ask if you could come up to run an assembly or PSHE class or set something up after school to increase young people's confidence.
Some interesting organisations that you might want to look into for resources are:
- Beatbullying: http://www.beatbullying.org/dox/resources/lesson-plans.html
- Action for Happiness: http://www.actionforhappiness.org/
As a general campaign to promote what you're doing you can set up a Twitter profile/create a Facebook page and get people to get on board with what you want to achieve. What you said about creating a video clip is brilliant and would be a lovely thing to be able to share through things like Twitter. You would also be able to post it on your Junction49 page here using the video tab at the top.
Depending what format you decide to go with for project and start doing first, there is funding available out there. Just let me know if you want to apply for funding and I'll send you some links of where you can apply to and help you as well with any applications.
I hope that helps to get started. If you have any questions or want to chat more about potential ideas just let me know.
Sarah
P.S. Don't forget to update your hours on vInspired and include your time spent on Junction49 and planning your idea - it all counts as volunteering :-)

My names Debbie and i am the owner of Diamond Therapy - a skincare company.
I very much like the sound of your idea; I would love to enter volunteering by creating an environment which fulfils young women with enpowerment with also thinking they are beautiful.
I would like to hold small group sessions were we can make some beauty products and use them for example face masks and then use them whilst talking to the ladies who attend.
I hope very much through these group sessions I could provide a safe haven for some ladies.
Please contact e at info@diamondtherapy.net if you are interested in brainstorming.
