What do you need to get started?


I have no training in digital art, but really appreciate it. So where do I start.

  • Avatar J-H 13:23, 11 September 2007 A good place to start for digital art is a website/online community called deviant art. Its like the ones Zoe above recommended, however slightly better.

    When your on the main page website either click on categories button near the top then go to resources and then tutorials they have a section on digital art, which has a broad range of different guides posted by artists on there. Also theirs a forum with a mine of information.

    If you find a style of work you like then you can get directly in contact with that artist, if you explain the situation then I'm sure they'll be more than willing to help as well.

    If you?re planning on doing it yourself, you'll need a pretty good computer for start. Depending what type of artwork you wanna do you'll have to buy some new hardware and software, which can range from cheap to expensive.

  • Avatar Burffy 22:33, 16 October 2007 It sounds like a good idea... But what type of awareness would you like to generate? Would you like to help to prevent it; would you like to offer help to those who have suffered abuse; help to those who have committed the abuse?
    I think Digital Art is the best medium to explore sensitive issues on stronger and more direct fashion... more 'on-your-face' type... nevertheless I personally dislike the use of images of disadvantaged people on poor and undesirable conditions to be used as a medium to generate aid.
    On my personal view Aid comes from empathy and love, not Simpathy and pity     Report Abuse
