What it's all about

I'd like someone to come up with something that everyone all over the world could do at exactly the same time. It would have to be simple and completely universal in its appeal and its impact. It would be something that inspired everyone that took part and those that were just watching and it would have to make an immediate impact - a huge impact.

What's needed to make it a reality

All sorts of things I guess. (although I don't think anyone has "got the t-shirt" on this one yet)

It would need the simple idea, the thing that everyone could do

It would need a major brand behind it - or at least a major sponsor and media partner

Nice idea. Like a massive flash mob or something?

I heard about something called "lights out" through facebook earlier this year, which asked everyone to turn out their lights and appliances for 5 mins on feb 1st. The event said that 158, 670 people were "attending" (if you know facebook you'll know what that means heh heh), and then provided a link for people to check if it had made a difference to the energy usage on the national grid.

Anyone got any ideas what the "simple idea" could be? In a way you need to have the message you're trying to get across sorted first, and then you can build up to do small events in local areas...and let it spread, maybe doing the same thing every month at the same time?!

As for flashmobbing - it seems we just missed one at the Tate Modern in London last week - doh! Try www.flashmob.co.uk The one last week was organised by a group called www.mobile-clubbing.com but I'm sure that these sorts of events could be utilised to make transmit a positive message about a particular issue that you care about...
