What it's all about

Wherever you are in Central London, you can be sure that phone booths will be filled with violent and partly racist pornographic images. Thus, exposure to porn occurs irrespective of age and without the choosing of the observer.
I think this attitude that seeps so deeply into society's structures needs to be undermined.
The large majority seems to feel annoyed by them. But nobody does anything about it. Yet, it would be so easy and immediately effective if whenever someone sees a phone booth filled with porn-cards he/she simply takes it down. We just have to find sufficient people who care and spread the message.

What's needed to make it a reality

Nothing really. Just enough motivated, critical people to go out there.

  • Avatar Nadia Cole 10:18, 29 October 2007 Your are very passionate about this and have suggested direct action. As you are a student studying at UCL you can access up to £750 to turn your idea into a reality. As you know, this is a specific project running at UCL and another 14 unis across the country. As your Junction49 Uni staff member I can give you training and support to develop your idea. Perhaps you might want to do an awareness raising one-off session or have other suggestions in mind...so let's meet up, if you want to turn your idea into an activity, to run through things further. Email me on: junction49@ucl.ac.uk or ring me 020 7679 2352 and we can go from there.
