Why it was needed

The kids and teenagers that come along to Xpression Youth Club really enjoy the art activities that are offered. I also have an interest in art, studying Art History, and decided that it would be a good idea to combine my interest and the enjoyment the kids get into a project culminating in an exhibiton.

What's being done

I initially approached Celina, the Junction 49 VSO, and pitched my idea to her. She gave me all the information I needed to get the project rolling. We devised a budget for materials and publicity which was sent off to Timebank, who luckily approved it for the full amount! I was had also asked others who had done similar projects how they had worked and the kinds of things they had done, both good and bad, to see what I should do as I set up my project.

How it started

I have volunteered at Xpression Youth Club for almost a year and a half and decided that a project that got all the members involved would be a good way to round off the Easter term. There are never usually any activitiy that involve all the members as a number of activities are on offer each week for the members to try out. being the only team leader, the project took up a large amount of my time, although I did have help from various sources to find out information that I needed.
