What it's all about

As liverpool is European City of culture in the year 2008 we would like to give a local communuity group the chance to create a one day museum. This museum would involve children and their families form the local area of Toxteth in setting up a museum open to the local community for the day that would reflect the culture and history of this suburb. Volunteers would work with the community group to train them in role play, curatorial work reserach and marketing in order to create a museum space that represents their lives now and the lives of residents of Toxteth in the past.

What's needed to make it a reality

In order to carry out this project in January 2008 we would need up to 6 volunteer staff with different strengths such as Drama, curatorial, art experience or skills. we would also need a budegt on order to buy costumes for role play provide martketing materails and stationary, frame up artefacts and produce signage as well as providing refreshments for visitors

This idea looks great, it sounds like it would be a real opportunity to get the whole community involved. As you are a student at LJMU, one of 15 universities working in partnerhip with Junction49, I, your Volunteer Support Officer(VSO), will be in touch with you soon - when I will hopefully be able to help you access funding and offer you much support throughout the development of your project!
