What it's all about
I have spent eight months in Romania, Brasov working as a volunteer carer at the children's hospital and various downsized orphanages.
I volunteered with a Charity called Hope for the Nations. They are constantly providing funds and care for the childrens hospital in Brasov. Recently the condition of the Infectious Diseases Hospital has been brought to their attention.
Now that I am at University I cannot spend all of my time there. So instead I would like to fundraise to help Hope for The Nations improve the Hospital. I also want to raise some money so I can return in the summer and paint some murals on the hospital walls. I have already done this and I know how much of a success it is.
What's needed to make it a reality
To get started I would like advice on how to start fundraising and how to make people involved. I have ideas for a party style event which would raise money by charging for tickets and having games etc, but how can I get the money to pay for the party?

Fundraising events are a great way to get people to donate money to your cause as they get something out of it as well as giving you money!
You could ticket your event so that you receive the money beforehand. You could organise a pub quiz whereby you charge a fee per person.
Or, how about a curry night…get friends and family to pay you what they would have paid for the meal had they eaten it in a restaurant.
As you are a student at Northumbria University, you have access to a Volunteer Support Officer who can help you get funding of up to £750 and provide practical support along the way.
Hope it goes well!
