What it's all about

To begin with groups of volunteers will go to Seven Stories centre for children’s books in Newcastle to learn the basics of storytelling. After training, groups will carry out story sessions at Seven Stories. A story session will involve a small group of volunteers telling stories to young children, carrying out arts and crafts sessions with the children as well as any other activity ideas the volunteers have.

Eventually we can take the project further, offering it to schools and the less fortunate in an attempt to get more children interested in reading.

What's needed to make it a reality

We need fundings for the essential materials to make thsi a reality. We will need to buy the books and arts and crafts materials if this is going to work.

I love the idea though. Einstein said 'the universe is not made up of atoms, but of stories'
Positive, life-affirming stories make for a positive, life-affirming planet.

This is a a fantastic project, I'm really impressed with the thought and planning that has gone into this; especially the fact that you're developing training with a national centre for childrens literature.

As you are a student studying at Northumbria University, you can access up to £750 to turn your idea into reality. As you know, this is a specific project running at Northumbria and another 14 unis across the country.

As your Junction49 Uni staff member, I can give you training and support to develop your idea.

Thanks ? I?ll be in touch soon to arrange a meeting with you so that we can discuss your idea further.
