What it's all about
The project aims to organise a 5-a-side football tournament to encourage young people (16 years and under) from different neighbourhoods to build a more positive relationship through the medium of sport.
Bringing young people from different backgrounds would help improve community harmony.
A fun and friendly competition would help to ease tension and rivalry between different areas and build bridges between communities with different traditions and cultures.
The project will be supported by the area part-time youth worker who is also a full-time staff at the University of Central Lancashire.
The project aims to recruit three teams from four different areas from Preston, targeting 70-80 young people.
What's needed to make it a reality
Funding of £700 would be used to provide venue hire charges, trophies, transport, promotion and refreshments/buffet.
A buffet at the conclusion of the tournament would encourage young people to create a network of ever-lasting friendship.
Please do not hesitate to contact me if you require further information.
Comments
As you are a student studying at the University of Central Lancashire, you can access up to £750 to turn your idea into reality. As you know, this is a specific project running at UCLan and another 15 unis across the country.
As your Junction49 Uni staff member, I can give you training and support to develop your idea.
I'll be in touch soon to arrange a meeting with you so that we can discuss your idea further.
Many thanks
Sara
