I currently study Medicine at Newcastle University on their graduate program. I have a degree in Radiation therapy from Trinity College Dublin. I’m really enjoying my degree, it’s very exciting working in the hospital and meeting lots of new people.
I have been dancing all my life and have learned irish, tap, jazz and ballroom dancing. However Musical Theatre is my passion. I have been involved in several productions and most recently performed in The Producers in the Theatre Royal in Newcastle.
I have been involved in many different projects. I am from Dublin so most of my experience comes from there. I was involved with a project for three years named Trinity Club, in which we organised a social club for adults with various learning difficulties. We carried out a different activity each week and had a weekend away once a year. It was a very rewarding experience and thought me a lot about communication and dedication to a project. All the members thoroughly enjoyed each week which made it all worthwhile.
I also set up a dance club in an underprivileged area in Dublin, for children to attend after school, all the teachers in the class were volunteers and in conjunction with a community project we organised a show at the end of the year. To see the enjoyment the children got out of this show made it all worthwhile.
I also was involved with a mentoring and homework program whereby I was paired with a teenager from a school in an underprivileged area. I worked with him on homework and school projects and helped him apply for colleges. This taught be a lot about giving someone a chance and bringing out the best in them. By simply sharing my experience with this boy I was able to encourage him to do his best academically.
I have also been involved in various one-off fundraising events such as a pubquiz, a race night, bag-packing and various charity shows. Most recently I helped out at the SCAN Christmas party which was a lot of fun.
