There are many choices to be made at this stage of life.
These decisions can be really difficult to make and often Young People with learning disabilities are not even included in the process. This can be complicated further when the young person has difficulty communicating their wishes, or the people in their lives find it hard to value their methods of communication.
IA aims to ensure that the wishes of people with complex needs are central to decisions that affect their lives.
It takes…
A friend not an expert
A good listener
A little time to get to know someone
Opening the door to other possibilities
A belief that everyone has a right to be heard
