What it's all about

Children living in the UK may not notice there are millions of people in the world who are striving for survival everyday. They are not asking for anything more than necessities that are needed to sustain their lives. According to some statistics from the Word Bank, more than 20 percent of the world population earns less than $1 a day. The figure is even more worrying when Africa is considered alone. 40 percent of the African population earns less than $1 a day.
The aim of the project is about raising students awareness of global poverty. Hopefully, after participating in the events, students will realise they are actually very lucky compared with people who live in poor countries and learn to treasure what they are having now. Probably in the future, they will come up with their own ways to help people in need.

We are targeting children at prep school and junior high school. The main feature of this project is to educate students through eating experience! We’ll randomly divide students into three groups. The number of students in each group will be based on the proportion of income distribution in the real world. Students in each group will be served different kinds of food. We’ll also hire a speaker to talk about the issues surrounding global poverty, like health, sanitation, education. Small games can be played with children to increase their understanding to the subject.
